I remember the originally posting about this on the Faust list and was wondering when it was happening since I saw no chatter on it other than the initital excitement.

If I had the vacation time (and the funds) I would be there in a nano second...unfortunately I have neither. Please...after this event would somebody post their thoughts and impressions? After innundating myself with Dumitrescu/Avram music for the last couple of months and reading the various interviews my interest in these people is EXTREMELY high!

This pairs music brings me places I've never been before...they are truly special talents who deserve to be heard by anyone and everyone with even the slightest interest in groundbreaking, progressive music. I fully expect to be examining their works for months...hell, years to come. In addition, their whole outlook on life, philosophy, getting inside the bare essence of sounds and the responsibilities entailed therin is ridiculously forward thinking and advanced. I don't, and probably never will have a full grasp of it, but this journey of exploration I'm on is one of the most excting and refreshing things I've ever done in my life.

I'll try and post my thoughts and impressions of varisous pieces in the near future...but whatever words I can scribble down about them, I'm sure they are going to be hopelessly inadequate of conveying whats really going on.

Hopefully more people will join this group...this music deserves to be heard!!

pleawe, Michael, your thoughts and impressions would be of tremendous interest to me. I am trying myself to grapple with what they are doing - it strikes me as the pinnacle of everything musically that has happened over the last fifty years. Frankly, my interest in other music is an exercise in nostalgia compared to what i feel about the music of Dumitrescu and Avram.

Anyone else who's going to the Paris dates, note that the schedule has changed since the original announcement - they are now on the Friday and Saturday, according to the official programme, and not the Saturday and Sunday as originally announced. I've just had to change my flight to accomodate this.

Alan- thanks for pointing this out, I had regretfully decided I wouldn't be able to do it, but now it might just be possible after all.

It might just be something to do with my machine, but mboi if anyone else is having trouble with this link- for me the pdf wouldn't load properly in Firefox, but works fine in Internet Explorer.

If anyone feels like joining us at the last minute, here's the details of the trains and hotel I'm getting - quite a few of us will be staying at the same hotel, I believe:

London Waterloo Int to Paris Nord
Fri 2-Nov-07 09:09 - 12:53

Paris Nord to London Waterloo Int
Mon 5-Nov-07 13:01 - 14:57

Hotel (which I think is just across the river from the venue, and in an area with lots of places to eat and drink, and also by a big metro station) is Jardin de L'Odeon, 7 rue Casimir Delavigne, Paris 75006

Greetings from Paris....
Well, the first concert was great last night and there's more to come in just over an hour's time. No doubt Andy will supply a full report later. Off to find a bar now...
